Free Travel Vouchers

Free travel vouchers are provided annually to Victorian Seniors Card holders and Victorian Pensioners for free travel on public transport within Victoria.

Victorian Pensioner Free Travel Voucher

Note: free travel vouchers are not issued by the PTV Pass Office.

Each year, Centrelink issues Victorian Pensioners with a Free Travel Voucher and a Voucher Exchange Coupon. These can be exchanged for tickets subject to the following conditions:

Metcard ticketed services

Exchange your voucher and coupon for a Daily Concession Metcard at any Premium Station the PTV Hub at Swanston Street.

V/Line services

Exchange your voucher and coupon at V/Line stations for either a Day Return or two Single tickets.

Vouchers are valid only for Economy Class travel, but may be upgraded to First Class by paying the change of class upgrade fee.

CountryLink and Great Southern Railway services

You can exchange your voucher and coupon for interstate travel on CountryLink and Great Southern Railway services, but you will be required to pay the appropriate fare from the Victorian border to your interstate destination as well as any change of class upgrade fees.

Present your voucher and coupon when booking your ticket at a V/Line station or V/Line agent.

Lost or damaged vouchers

Pensioners who have lost or damaged their vouchers should contact the Centrelink Teleservice centre on 132 300.

Seniors Off-Peak Free Travel Vouchers

Note: free travel vouchers are not issued by the PTV Pass Office.

Each year, the State Government issues Victorian Seniors Card holders with two Seniors Off-Peak Free Travel Vouchers. Seniors from regional Victoria receive two additional off-peak travel vouchers.

These vouchers are valid for six months and must be exchanged for tickets and used for travel before the expiry date. Vouchers can be exchanged subject to the following conditions:

Metcard ticketed services

Exchange your voucher for a Seniors Daily Metcard at selected Premium Stations and staffed V/Line stations or the PTV Hub at Swanston Street.

The vouchers must be exchanged prior to travel.

V/Line services

Vouchers can be exchanged for either a V/Line Off-Peak Day Return ticket or two V/Line Off-Peak Single tickets (for return on a different day) from selected Premium Stations and staffed V/Line stations or from V/Line ticket agents.

Present the voucher when booking your ticket at a V/Line station or agent. If you would like to travel on V/Line-ticketed services where reservations are required, go to a staffed V/Line station, selected Premium Station or V/Line agent before travelling.

The vouchers can only be redeemed for Economy Class tickets and cannot be upgraded to First Class.

Vouchers can only be used for travel within Victoria and cannot be redeemed as part of an interstate journey.

Lost or stolen vouchers

Vouchers will not be replaced if lost or stolen.
