Southern Cross Station is the arrival and departure point for metropolitan and regional train, tram and bus services. The Premium Station is located on Spencer Street in Melbourne's central business district (CBD), between Collins and La Trobe streets. Etihad Stadium, New Quay Docklands and Melbourne's vibrant CBD are just a short stroll from the station. Southern Cross Station has many services and facilities to assist metropolitan and regional passengers travelling on Victoria's public transport network.

Facilities at Southern Cross Station include:

Lockers

Lockers are available in the following locations: 

• the Southern Cross Coach Terminal
• next to the V/Line Luggage area, below the Bourke Street Bridge
• adjacent to Platform 7a.

The fee for locker hire starts at $10 all day. No reservations are required.

Parking

The following types of parking are available in and around the station:

• pick up/drop off points
• taxi ranks.

Travellers Aid Australia

Travellers Aid Australia centres offer support services and transport information for passengers, particularly those with special needs.       

Travellers Aid Australia at Southern Cross Station provides the following services:

• a rest area and lounge
• free buggy transport through Southern Cross Station for the elderly and people with a disability
• public transport information.

PTV Hub myki Centre

The PTV Hub myki Centre is located on the ground level of Southern Cross Station, near the entrance of Spencer and Little Collins streets.

Services include:

• buy a myki (full fare, concession, seniors, child, DSP/CAR)
• replacement process for damaged or non-operational cards (note card balance CANNOT be transferred on the spot)(lost/stolen forms lodgment only)
• exchange a myki eg swap from full fare to concession (note card balance CANNOT be transferred on the spot, refund cheque sent to customer)
• top up via the myki machine
• obtain a free seniors/DSP/CAR myki
• receive a demonstration of myki equipment
• obtain myki brochures and lodge forms
• access a direct line to the myki call centre (two available)
• access to the myki website.
• buy V/Line tickets
• reserve seats on V/Line trains and coaches
• collect pre-purchased V/Line tickets
• request a ticket refund (conditions apply).

• sheltered waiting areas
• a food court
• wheelchair accessible toilets and toilets with baby change facilities
• retail outlets
• cash points
• public telephones.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5pm.

PTV Pass Office

The PTV Pass Office issues many of Victoria’s free travel passes and the War Widow / War Veteran Concession card.

PTV Hub

The PTV Hub provides face-to-face public transport and visitor information for Melbourne and Victoria.

V/Line main booking office

V/Line’s main booking office at Southern Cross Station is located on the ground floor concourse near the entrance at Collins Street.  

At the V/Line booking office, passengers can:

V/Line main booking office opening hours: Monday – Thursday 5.30am – 10.15pm, Friday 5.30am – 12.05am, Saturday 6.15am – 12 midnight and Sunday 7.15am – 10.15pm.

Passenger Information Displays (PIDs) are located around Southern Cross Station.

Country/regional departures and arrivals are shown in red and metropolitan services are shown in blue.

Check the PID when you arrive at the station to see which platform your train is leaving from.

Coach terminal

V/Line coaches, airport buses and other regional/interstate coaches leave from the Southern Cross Coach Terminal.

It is located next to the train station and can be accessed from Spencer Street (opposite Little Bourke Street) or from within the train station.
