Registering your myki

You can register your myki:

  • online
  • over the phone by calling 1800 800 007 (6am - midnight daily).

If your myki is registered, you can set auto top up via your credit card or direct debit. For more information, see topping up your myki.

You can buy a registered myki online or by calling 1800 800 007 (6am - midnight daily) and choose to print your name on it.

You can also purchase a myki from a retail outlet, myki machine (full fare only) or Premium Station ticket office window. Please note that myki cards bought from these outlets are unregistered.

While you can use an unregistered myki immediately, you must allow at least 24 hours before you can register it online or by calling 1800 800 007 (6am - midnight daily).

When you register your myki online or by phone, your registration is processed instantly. Your transaction history and myki card information will then be visible in your online account in around 24 hours.

Registered customers can view up to six months of travel and transaction history online. You can request up to two years of travel and transaction history by calling 1800 800 007 (6am - midnight daily).

The benefits of registering your myki:

Balance protection

If your myki is registered and you report it as lost or stolen, your old card will be blocked from use.

The remaining balance will be transferred to a new replacement myki at no cost.

Auto top up

You can set up auto top up so that when your myki money balance hits a certain value (e.g. $10), it automatically tops up with a value of your choice (e.g. $50).

Manage your account online or via the call centre

You can check your myki money balance, the days remaining on a myki pass, your travel history, arrange top ups over the phone or online and change your personal details.

Register another person's myki to your own account and manage it

For example you can manage your child's myki.

Make enquiries and obtain tax invoices

You can create your own tax invoice under the 'my transactions' section of your online account. Select the date range, transaction types you wish to be included in the invoice, and select 'view and print statement'.

If you require a tax invoice for travel history that dates back more than six months, please call 1800 800 007 (6am - midnight daily) for assistance.

Please note, a tax invoice will be sent to your email address when you register online.

You can request up to two years of travel and transaction history by calling 1800 800 007 (6am - midnight daily).

You should allow at least 24 hours for your myki use to appear on your travel and transaction history. Your myki card stores your real-time card balance and last 10 transactions. You can view these using a myki machine or myki check.

Manage your myki online

If your myki is registered, you can manage your myki online account.

Log in to view your travel history, top up your myki, set up auto top up or report your card as lost or stolen.

You can register up to eight active myki cards to an individual account. For example, one person can manage myki cards for other family members.

To create an online account, follow these three steps:

Step 1 - Go to the online account set up page.

Step 2 - Enter your:

  • 15-digit myki card number (located on the back of your card)
  • your name
  • your date of birth

Step 3 - Enter your:

  • preferred user name and password
  • contact email address
  • nominated security question (for example, mother’s maiden name)

Step 4 - Complete the Declaration section and then press 'Submit' (you will receive an email to confirm your online account creation has been successful)
