Major disruptions on regional trains
Be sure to plan ahead and allow more time for travel during major works this autumn, especially if you’re travelling over the school holiday period.
To avoid delays:
- plan your journey before you travel using Journey planner
- allow extra travel time
- consider alternatives if you can, and travel outside of peak times where possible.

September
Gippsland line
- Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross, Traralgon and Bairnsdale stations from first service Saturday 21 September to last service Sunday 22 September.
October
Geelong and Warrnambool lines
- Coaches replace trains between Geelong and Warrnambool stations from Saturday 5 October to Monday 7 October.
Gippsland line
- Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and East Pakenham from 1:30am Saturday 5 October to Sunday 6 October.
- Coaches replace trains between Traralgon and Bairnsdale from Wednesday 16 October to Sunday 27 October.
- Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and East Pakenham from Saturday 26 October to Sunday 27 October.
Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill lines
- Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Gisborne from 9pm Monday 7 October to Wednesday 9 October.
November
Gippsland line
- Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and East Pakenham stations from 1:30am Saturday 30 November to 3am Monday 2 December.
