Major disruptions on metropolitan trains

Be sure to plan ahead and allow more time for travel during major works this winter, especially if you’re travelling over the school holiday period.

To avoid delays:  

  • plan your journey before you travel using Journey planner  
  • allow extra travel time  
  • consider alternatives if you can, and travel outside of peak times where possible.

Major disruptions in June

Belgrave and Lilydale lines
  • From 11:30pm Friday 21 June to last service Sunday 23 June, buses replace trains between Box Hill and Belgrave/Lilydale.
Belgrave, Lilydale and Alamein lines
  • From 11.45pm to last service, Sunday 9 June, buses replace trains between Ringwood and Belgrave.
  • From 8.30pm Tuesday 18 June to 11.30pm Friday 21 June, buses replace trains between Blackburn, Belgrave and Lilydale.
  • From 10.30pm to last service each night, Wednesday 19 June and Thursday 20 June, buses replace trains between Burnley, Belgrave, Lilydale and Alamein. 
Sunbury Line
  • From first service Saturday 22 June to last service Sunday 23 June, buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine.
Cranbourne and Pakenham lines
  • From first service Saturday 22 June to last service Sunday 23 June, buses replaces trains between Caulfield to Westall. Passengers change at Caulfield for Frankston Line trains to the city.

Major disruptions in July

Frankston and Stony Point lines
  • From 9pm Sunday14 July to last service early August, buses replace trains from Cheltenham to Frankston and Stony Point.

Major disruptions in August

Frankston and Stony Point lines
  • From mid-August to late August, buses replaces trains on sections of the Frankston and Stony Point lines.
