William Street tram stop upgrades

In late 2019, we upgraded two city tram stops on Route 58 in Melbourne's CBD to improve safety, accessibility, and journey times.

Improving access for all passengers

The two new raised stops 5 and 7 on William Street will make travelling by tram easier for everyone - including passengers who are vision impaired or using wheelchairs, prams, and other mobility aids.

We’ve done this because Route 58 is an important link between some of Melbourne's key health, business, and tourist destinations.

Project update

Stops 5 and 7 were both upgraded In December 2019 and are now open to passengers, with trams on William Street returning to usual services.
