Your new PTV website

Welcome to the PTV website. Our aim is to give an improved user experience, making it easier for you to find the information you need to travel on public transport.

Launched in January 2019, the design and build of our new website has been an iterative process with user testing important from the start.

The site has a range of improvements, including a new Journey planner, dynamic mapping, and better disruption information.

It's more mobile friendly and allows you to create favourites and get information at a glance from the homepage.

We continue to provide new functionality and improvements across the site.

Details of some of the website's key features:

Journey planner

Plan a journey between any two locations in Victoria, view your options on the map, and select your preferred result to view step-by-step journey details.

Use the date and time picker to see future journeys.

For journeys within the myki area, you'll get a myki Money fare estimate. Simply select the journey and then select the dropdown menu next to myki to see Full fare, Concession and Senior fare estimates.

Make your journey a favourite to pin it to your homepage.

Next departures

View upcoming departures for a station or stop including real time where available.

Use the date and time picker to see future departures and select a direction from the drop down menu to view multiple services.

Select a service to see the stopping pattern showing arrival times at subsequent stops.

This feature replaces the Next 5 functionality on the old PTV website, giving real time information much more prominence across the website.

FAQs

Why have you updated the website?

We've updated the website to improve the user experience and make it easier for you to find the information you need to travel on public transport.

New features have been introduced to help the website meet current user needs and behaviour. This also gives us flexibility to improve more in the months ahead.

Will there be further changes?

Yes. Future improvements include myki account management and vehicle location on the interactive map.

Is the site accessible?

The new site provides a better accessible experience and has undergone an accessibility audit. We're continuing to make improvements with our goal to comply with W3C Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) 2.0 AA standard.

Have you tested the site on users?

The design and build of the new website has been an iterative process. User testing has played an important part from the beginning.

We made the new website available to the public as a beta site in May 2018. Since that time, 40,000 users have accessed the site, with more than 2000 pieces of feedback being submitted. We used these comments and suggestions to help development of the site during that beta period, with regular updates made to the site.

How do I provide feedback?

We welcome all feedback about the new website. You can now quickly rate a page using the Rate your experience toolbar on the lower right hand side of a page. For detailed feedback, find out how you can provide feedback.

Can I still access the old website?

Yes. The old website will still be available until we complete all work on the new PTV website. Access the old website at classic.ptv.vic.gov.au.
