Tram and bus service changes during Anzac Day

There will be multiple tram and bus service changes throughout Melbourne and Victoria on Friday 25 April 2025, to due to Anzac Day commemoration activities.

Anzac Day Dawn Service and Commemoration March service changes

Prior to the Dawn Service all trams travelling along St Kilda Road will terminate at Stop 19 Shrine of Remembrance. From 5.45am, no trams will operate along St Kilda Road between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 20 Anzac Station.

Service changes from first service until 12.30pm

  • Route 11 and 48: Trams to operate between West Preston / North Balwyn to Stop 7 101 Collins Street.
  • Route 12: Trams to operate between Victoria Gardens and St Kilda diverting via La Trobe Street.
  • Route 109: Trams to operate between Port Melbourne and Box Hill diverting via La Trobe Street.

Service changes from first service until 1pm

  • Route 70: Trams to operate between Wattle Park and Stop 6 Russell Street and Flinders Street.
  • Route 75: Trams to operate between Vermont South and Stop 6 Russell Street and Flinders Street.
  • Route 35 (City Circle): Trams to operate between Stop 2 Melbourne Aquarium and Stop 6 Russell Street and Flinders Street via Docklands, servicing stops in both directions.

Service Changes from first service until 1.45pm

Route 1: Trams to operate in two sections:

  • Between East Coburg and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station
  • Between South Melbourne Beach and Stop 17 Arts Precinct/Sturt Street

Route 3: Trams to operate between East Malvern and Stop 7 Flagstaff Station diverting via Park Street, Kings Way and William Street

Route 5: Trams to operate between Malvern and Stop 17 Arts Precinct/Sturt St diverting via Park Street, Kings Way and Sturt Street

Route 6 Trams to operate in two sections:

  • Between Moreland and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station
  • Between Glen Iris and Stop 17 Sturt Street diverting via Park Street, Kings Way and Arts Precinct/Sturt Street

Route 16: Trams to operate between Kew and Stop 17 Arts Precinct/Sturt Street diverting via Park Street, Kings Way and Sturt Street

Route 64: Trams to operate between East Brighton and Stop 7 Flagstaff Station diverting via Park Street, Kings Way and William Street

Route 67: Trams to operate between Carnegie and Stop 7 Flagstaff Station diverting via Park Street, Kings Way and William Street

Route 72: Trams to operate between Camberwell and Stop 17 Arts Precinct/Sturt Street diverting via Park Street, Kings Way and Sturt Street

Shuttle Services from first service

Collins Street Shuttles: Trams to operate between Stop 5 Collins Street / Elizabeth Street and Victoria Harbour until 12.30pm

Flinders Street Shuttles: Trams to operate between Stop 2 Melbourne Aquarium and Stop D18 Waterfront City Docklands until 1pm.

Swanston Street Shuttles: Trams to operate between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 1 Melbourne University until 1.45pm.

Routes 3058788682 and 96 will operate to a Saturday frequency with no changes.

Route 605

Temporary bus stop closures on Friday 25 April 2025 from first service Friday 25 April 2025 to 4pm Friday 25 April 2025.

Bus Route 605 (both directions) will not service selected bus stops from first service to 4pm on Friday 25 April 2025, due to ANZAC Day road closures.

Bus stops that will not be serviced:

  • Melbourne Girls Grammar/Anderson Street (both directions)
  • Royal Botanical Gardens/Domain Rd (both directions)
  • ANZAC Station/ Domain Road (both directions)
  • Victorian College of the Arts/Southbank Boulevard (to City)
  • Kavanagh Street/Southbank Boulevard (to Gardenvale)
  • City Road/Southbank Boulevard (to City)

Passengers are advised to use the alternative bus stops at:

  • Casino East/Queens Bridge Street (both directions)
  • Anderson Street/Alexandra Avenue (to Gardenvale)
  • Dobson Street/Alexandra Avenue (to City)
