Changes to Night Network bus

Friday 24 September

Night Network is changing on Friday 24 September, making it easier to use and reaching more parts of Melbourne.

Some of our most popular bus routes will expand to a 24-hour weekend service on Fridays and Saturdays.

We will also be introducing new bus routes to the Night Network that will operate after midnight on weekends.

The new network will include 21 busy regular routes extended to operate a 24-hour service on weekends, and 13 special routes that will operate after midnight on weekends.

Overnight train and tram services will continue to operate as per current timetables.

Your travel home late at night will involve buses direct from the city, or Night Network bus services connecting with trains from the city.

Many existing Night Bus routes will be replaced by a regular route which runs as a 24-hour service on weekends, a new special Night Network bus route that operates after midnight on weekends, or are served by existing nearby Night Network train or tram services.

Buses will wait up to 20 minutes at selected stations if the connecting train from the city is running late.

Some 24-hour weekend services will not operate along the full length of the regular routes, so check Timetables or plan ahead using Journey planner.
