Victorian school buses
There are several travel options available to help students get to and from school.
Travelling with concession fares
Students in Melbourne and many regional cities can travel to and from school on the bus. Eligible students can travel on a concession fare.
Students can travel on paid school bus services in metropolitan Melbourne and in the following regional cities:
- Geelong
- Warrnambool
- Ballarat
- Bendigo
- Shepparton
- Mildura
- Portland
- Horsham
- Wodonga
- Latrobe Valley - Moe, Morwell, Traralgon
Many smaller towns also have a fare-paying bus for local students. For more information, contact your local bus operator.
School Bus Program
Eligible students in regional Victoria can travel free with the School Bus Program. Other students can still use the School Bus Program if space is available, their travel is approved and a fare is paid, if applicable.

Buses for children with special needs
Many buses are low floor and wheelchair accessible. If a student needs to travel to and from school on an accessible bus, contact your local bus operator.
Students with Disabilities Transport Program
The Department of Education and Training runs a Students with Disabilities Transport Program to provide free bus services for children with special needs who attend selected government specialist schools.
